WHAT’S UP IS DOWN - INVERSION ASANA INTENSIVE

JULY 21 - 26, 2024 | 8-11AM

Some of the most exciting and scary yoga postures are inversions. They are also some of the most physiologically beneficial poses in yoga. Handstand, Adho Mukha Vriksasana, builds strength and confidence. Forearm balance, Pincha Mayurasana, focuses on shoulder strength and opening. Headstand, Sirsasana, and Shoulderstand, Sarvangasana, balance your endocrine system and support hormone health in men and women. Throughout this week of yoga practice, we will take time to not only learn these poses but also learn how to modify them and how to use various props to stay in these poses longer. The longer you stay, the more benefits you reap. The classes will also include focused asana practice with emphasis on alignment and conscious breathing. Alos, every Wednesday of an Intensive is a Restorative practice. Come and learn how to do these incredible poses and also refine your own practice under the guidance of a highly skilled and seasoned teacher.

SPRING CLEANING ASANA INTENSIVE

APRIL 14-19, 2024 | 8-11AM

An Intensive with Nicki is a great way to reignite your yoga practice, especially at this time of the year. Spring tends to make us more aware of our bodies and how we are feeling in them. Nicki’s style of teaching accommodates every body in the room and she has a way of weaving the stories and philosophy of yoga into the asana practice with compassion and humor. The intensity of the classes build through the week taking the class level into consideration always. Maya Yoga Studio is a fully equipped studio with many of the props used to deepen the teachings of yoga. There will be chanting, meditation, pranayama, asana, restorative yoga and the wall ropes covered throughout the week. This is the time to get back into your practice and experience the personalized teaching that Maya Yoga and Nicki Doane are known for.

SVADYAYA: GET TO KNOW YOURSELF BETTER THROUGH THE PRACTICE OF YOGA ASANA INTENSIVE

Svadyaya: The study of the self. Self realization may sound like an unattainable concept but in reality it simply means getting to know yourself better. Yoga is one of the most effective means to help you do just that. The class begins with a nourishing reset of the nervous system and then chanting and prayer to connect to yourself and spirit. A conscious asana and pranayama practice follows, and the class always ends with a deep restful savasana in which Nicki reads spiritual poetry while you drop deeper and deeper into bliss and begin to let go of all that no longer serves you.
